In 1988 the
City Council approved the appropriation of funds to add two police officers to the Ramsey Police
Department with the understanding that no additional officers would be hired until the starting
wage has been negotiated ',vith LELS (see enclosed City Council meeting minutes dated September
28, 1988).

We are aware of the shared concern for proper staffing of the Depa~mment by ',.he members of the
Police Department, the Chief of Police, the CiD' Administrator, and other City Councitmembers.
Therefore, we are requesting that you join us in a meeting to negotiate and resolve this single issue
without further delay.

Most sincerely,

CITY OF RAMSEY

GraD' R~',_~i~anr}, lV,,layor

R/chard P.
