CASE #~

REPORT FROM ROAD AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE
By: Pete Raatikka, city Engineer

The Road and Bridge Committee met at 3:30 p.m., February 3, 1989
at the Ramsey Municipal Center. Members present were Councilman
A1 Pearson, Councilman Ken Peterson, and myself. The following
items were discussed and recommendations were made for council
action.

ITEM ~1:

MSAS Route Changes/Additions

BACKGROUND:

I have completed the Annual Certification of Mileage and
with the new construction last year, the City is eligible for an
additional 1.34 miles of MSAS mileage.

There are several items pending which could/will effect eh
alignment of existing routes. The proposed railroad crossing
west of the weigh station and the closing of Puma Street railroad
crossing as a public crossing will require realignment of several
MSAS routes. If the airport is upgraded, the route connecting to
Co. Rd. 116 will have to be changed. The City is also waiting on
a response from Anoka on the designation of McKinley Street
between Thurston Avenue and the Ramsey boundary as a MSA street.
If Anoka designates a MSA Street, Ramsey could designate a MSA
street north of the railroad tracks through the industrial area
of the City.

One change that could be made at this time to the MSAS route
is the extension of the frontage road between Ramsey Blvd. and
Armstrong Blvd. lying south of T.H. No. 10. This would add 1.18
miles of street to the MSAS system. Enclosed is a copy of the
MSAS map, thoroughfare plan and the annual certification of
mileage.

RECOMMENDATION:

The Road and Bridge Com~.ittee recommends the revisions to the
MSAS system in the industrial area and around the airport to put
ton hold until the future status of the airport is known and a
response from the City of Anoka is received.

The Road and Bridge Committee recommends further that the
proposed addition of the frontage road between Ramsey Blvd. and
Azuustrong Blvd. south of T.H. No. 10 be sent to the District
State Aid Engineer for preliminary approval.

IOl
