BOATING RULES <br /> <br />Lower Sr. Croix National $¢enic.ltiver y <br /> <br />Th&'St. Croix River is a very popular boating area, and <br />because of that popularity is often very congested. <br />Special water surface use regulations are enforced on the <br />river to improve safety conditions and make the river <br />experience more enjoyable. Please obey all the rules. <br />VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED! Please read all the <br />rules before venturing out onto the river. <br /> <br /> The regulations create one special "slow soeed <br /> zone"where motorboat operation must be restricted <br /> to operating "~at _a leisurely spee~ less than <br /> planing soeed? whereby the wake or wash created <br /> by the motorboat is minimal." Thls "slow soeed <br /> zone"-extends from the dam et Taylors Falls south <br /> to the Arcola Sandbar at the mouth of the Apple <br /> (~River, about 1.5 miles north of the Arcola Railroad <br /> Bridge (see map). The sandbar is marked with buoys. <br /> <br /> In addition to the "slow-no-wake zones" described On <br /> the other side, boaters should be aware that there is <br /> a special .!'slow-no-wake" rule in' effect within 100 <br /> feet of all shore, including islands, and within <br /> 100 feet of swimmers. <br /> <br /> The regulations impose'three special limits <br /> <br />1. No waterskiing is allowed on any part'~f <br /> the river between sunset and sunrise. <br /> <br />2. No waterskiing is allowed at.any time <br /> in any of the "slow s~eed" or ,,slow~ '' <br /> no-wake" zone~'~ except the 1DO-foot'-" <br /> shore zone limit doesn't apply to ...... '" ' <br /> watercraft launching or'landing'a~skier <br /> .by the most direct route to open water. <br /> <br />3. There is a special'restriction 6n <br /> waterskiing in the area between the <br /> Arcola Sandbar and the north end of <br /> Stillwater (the Coast Guard channel buoy <br /> marking the north end of the nine-foot <br /> navigation channel).
