City of Ramsey
15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 · (612) 427-1410

Novexmber 14, 1989

Mr. Jon Olsen, Project Engineer
Anoka County Highway Department
1440 Bunker Lake Boulevard
Anoka, MN 55303

Re:

Construction Activity on 116 and
Relationship to River's Bend Park

Dear Mr. Olsen:

We are pleased to hear that work is beginning on the Rum River
bridge crossing and commend Anoka County for its efforts. We offer
our support to assure an early successful project.

Two of our staff attended the preconstruction conference on
November 3 for the 116 bridge crossing, thus the schedule for the
project as well as project concerns have been brought to our
attention.

Our primary concerns are:

- Safety of park users
- Utilization of the park
- Damage to park improvements.

We are aware that certain aspects of the construction program will
require that the south portion of the park be closed to public
access. We request that interruption of park access be kept to a
minimum and that the City is notified at least one week in advance
so that maintenance can be scheduled (e.g. watering of new
landscape material).

We understand that placement of the bebo structure will require
that the access road be closed for approximately six weeks this
summer. Due to the large investment in new landscape material, we
request that this closure occur as early in the year as possible
so that watering of plant materials is not interrupted,
particularly if another dry summer occurs. An alternative is to
provide access for a City watering truck approximately once a week
during closure if it must occur during a prolonged dry spell.
