case
REPORT REGARDING INSTALLATION OF
NEW LIGHTING CONTROLS AT CENTRAL PARK
By: Pete Raatikka, City Engineer

Background:

In an effort to resolve the wasteful use of lights at Central Park,
I contacted Terry Lehn at Electric Service. I also discussed the
situation with Mark Boos, Parks & Utilities Coordinator. It was
the consensus of our discussions that manual switches requiring
keys to operate should be installed for each ballfield. Therefore,
the lights would not come on unless they were turned on. Coaches
or people with keys would also be directed to turn off the lights
at the time they are done using the ballfields. The existing timer
would be used to control the period of time the lights could be
operated.

Mark Boos has contacted RYAA and they are agreeable to the proposed
system.

Mr. Lehn from Electric Services will be installing the switches and
making the necessary changes in the next few days.

Council Action: ~f~
No action required.

Review Checklist:

city Administrator X
city Attorney
City Engineer X
Community Development Dir.

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Public Works Supt.
Parks Coordinator

X
