CASE

CONSIDER ACQUISITION OF TAX FORFEIT LANDS
By: Mark S. Banwart, Community Development Director

Background:

The County of Anoka submitted several parcels to the City for review and classification as tax
forfeit lands. Chapter 282.01 Subdivision 1 of Minnesota Statutes requires that the City approve
the classification of sale of tax forfeit parcels that lie within their jurisdiction.

Additionally, the City desires to acquire any parcel lying within the boundaries of the City, it may
do so within 90 days of the request for classification and sale approval by filing a written
application with the County Board to withhold a parcel from sale. The County Board will then
withhold the parcel from sale for one (1) year.

Although tile public auction for tax forfeit land parcels is set for November 18, 1989, the
individual parcels could be withdrawn from the auction if they were to be re-purchased.

For your information, the following is enclosed:

A)
B)
C)

Summary information contacts for forfeit properties in the City of Ramsey
Site location map (PIN 28-32-25-31-0002)
Proposed resolution

RecoJnmendation:

Staff recommends that PIN: 28-32-25-31-0002 be withheld from the sale for use for road
purposes.
