City Council
November 7, 1989
Page 2

I respectfully request that you direct staff to withdraw this
Complaint. This request is made, not that I want to be an
exception to anyone else, but specifically because it appears to
me the Complaint is the result of staff's frustration in their
interpretation of a very vague ordinance and perhaps their
frustration with me because I have been unable to understand what
it is they are getting at, other than it appears they are trying
to impose their standards or ideas on the business community of
the City of Ramsey. I have tried to be courteous with them in
their efforts to carry out their responsibility, but it appears
to me there is an irreconcilable conflict relating to their
interpretation of which businesses in the City must apply for
conditional use permits. Somehow staff refuses to recognize that
firewood is a business. I submit to you that it is a business and
that a fair return may be realized from the sale of firewood.

I realize this is an unusual request that you intercede in the
criminal process, but let me suggest to you that the cost of
going through this criminal process, as well as the
inconvenience, is one that none of us should have to experience,
when it appears that it is in conflict with your general stated
purpose of cooperation and partnership with the business
community.

Respectfully,
Steve Gorecki

/jr
