Use of Native Species

Consensus was to not have a section on native species but utilize the following text as a
preamble to the City's List of Recommended Trees: "The following percentage of all
vegetation, excluding all turfgrass and groundcovers, required by this Section shall be
indigenous to Minnesota. In order to facilitate growers who may need to reassess field
stock, the following dates are established to institute a minimum percentage: (a) Thirty
percent (30%) upon the effective date of this ordinance; and (b) Thirty-five percent
(35%) beginning (c) Forty percent (40%) beginning "

8. Spacing at Time of Planting

Consensus was to not have a section on spacing, but utilize the following text as a second
paragraph in the preamble to the Recommended Tree List: "The spacing of new trees
must be compatible with spatial site limitations and with responsible consideration
toward specie size when mature."

When compiling the tree list be formatted as a table and include a column for each
species that identifies the recommended spacing between plantings.

9. Minimum Planting Area Dimensions

Consensus was not to address minimum planting areas as a separate section in the
ordinance but rather add another column to the Recommended Tree List or table that
identifies the planting area required for each species.

10. Planting Distances From Curb and Sidwalk

Consensus was that recommended planting distances from curb and sidewalks should
also be addressed in the table of recommended trees.

11.
