Task Force Scope <br /> <br />Mr. Max briefly reviewed his draft Task Force Scope and invited comments and inputs from the <br />other members. Ms. Sitz added issues relating to landscaping and wildlife; and Mr. Bacon <br />suggested the addition of economic development. It was agreed that this document should be <br />one of the first items on the July 18 agenda. <br /> <br />Ms. Sitz stated that she has some names for a resources list. Mr. McDilda delegated Ms. Sitz to <br />email her list to all Committee members and at the regular meeting on July 18, part of the agenda <br />will include additions to the resources lists. <br /> <br />REVIEW RESPONSES TO SOFTWARE INTERVIEW QUESTIONS <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Max and seconded by Ms. Dvorak to accept the tree preservation ordinance <br />software interview responses of June 27, 2002. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mr. McDilda, Committee Members Max, Dvorak, Connolly, Sitz <br />and Cook. Voting No: None. Absent: Committee Members Brauer, Marshall and Strommen. <br /> <br />REVIEW DEFINITIONS SECTION OF DRAFT ORDINANCE <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding whether the best approach is to pare down a 109-page document <br />generated by the software or start with an existing 8 or 9-page ordinance from another <br />community and modify it as necessary. The consensus of the committee was that working <br />through the draft generated by the software would be a learning experience and the end result <br />should be an ordinance that meets the specific needs of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Dvorak and seconded by Ms. Connolly to proceed to review the Definitions <br />section of the draft tree ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mr. McDilda, Committee Members Max, Dvorak, Connolly, Sitz <br />and Cook. Voting No: None. Absent: Committee Members Brauer, Marshall and Strommen. <br /> <br />Definitions; Introductory Sentence: As used within this ordinance, the following terms shall <br />have the meanings set forth in this section: The word "shall" is mandatory and not merely <br />directory. <br /> <br />Purpose; Preamble: The intent of this ordinance is to realize the benefits through the <br />preservation, protection, planting, and proper maintenance of trees to: <br /> <br />Benefits of Trees; Introductory Sentence: The purpose of this ordinance is to provide a basis <br />for the management of trees; to provide for their enduring viability and safety; and to perpetuate <br />the many contributions they make to the environmental, financial, social, and aesthetic well- <br />being of the city. <br /> <br /> <br />
