Page 2
April 4, 1990

Heinen and Mason provided a rental option which is rental from
May 1 to October 1 for $1,750 (payable at delivery of equipment).
If the City decides to purchase at the end of the season, 90% of
the rental is applied to the purchase price.

The basic irrigation unit can be fitted with a booster pump to
increase spraying radius or diffuser nozzles to lighten spray.
These are options which can be added if necessary.

In addition to the basic unit, a longer supply hose and couplings
will be necessary. Collapsible supply hose can be purchased from
Heinen and Mason at $1.25/LF and the fittings would be in the range
of $30.00. Mark Boos has indicated, however, that the City may be
able to purchase supply hose of a better grade satisfactory for
public works as well at a cost of approximately $1.50/LF.

Outright purchase of the unit would be $4,175 for the 160B unit
plus cost of additional supply hose and couplers. If the rental
option is pursued and then the equipment is purchased, the total
cost would increase $175 to $4,350 plus supply hose and couplers.

I've also discussed the possibility of obtaining a surface water
appropriation permit with the DNR and it's likely the City could
receive a temporary permit (cost $75). Combined with a booster
pump which the City already owns, a good portion of the south end
of the park could also be irrigated assuming that adequate supply
hose is available.

It is our recommendation to rent the unit from Heinen and Mason and
if it performs to the City's needs, purchase it at the end of the
season.

Sincerely,

HAKANSON ANDERSON ASSOCIATES, INC.

File: RA7:01-6
