canopy or marquee, but such structures shall not be considered as part of <br />the wall area and thus shall not warrant additional sign area. <br /> <br />170.053D Church directional signs <br /> <br />Church directional signs shall be permitted in all districts, provided the <br />total area of such signs shall not exceed four (4) square feet per facing. <br /> <br />170.053E Construction <br /> <br />All signs shall be constructed in such a manner and of such material that <br />they shall be safe and substantial. <br /> <br />170.053F Free stnnding sign <br /> <br /> Subdivision 1. Any free standing sign within twenty-five (25) <br />feet of any intersection of street right-of-way lines and/or driveway <br />entrances shall have a minimum vertical clearance of ten (10) feet above the <br />centerline of the pavement. <br /> <br /> Subd. 2. The total sign area of any multi-faced free standing <br />sign shall not exceed twice the permitted area of a single-face sign. <br /> <br />170.053G General requirements <br /> <br /> Subdivision 1. No sign shall contain any indecent or offensive <br />picture or written matter. NO si_~n shall contain obscene images or <br />~ta~;ements in accordance with Minn, Stat. § 617,241 <br /> Subd. 2. No sign other than governmental signs shall be <br />erected or temporarily placed within any street or public right-of-way or <br />upon any public easement. <br /> <br /> Sub& 3. A permit for a sign to be located within fifty (50) feet <br />of any street or highway regulatory or warning sign, of any traffic sign or <br />signal, or of any crossroad or crosswalk, will not be issued unless e~ly4f: <br /> <br />The sign will not interfere with the ability of drivers and <br />pedestrians to see any street or highway sign, or any traffic <br />sign or signal, or any crossroad or crosswalk; and <br /> <br />b.~ The sign will not distract drivers nor offer any confusion to <br /> any street or highway, sign, or any traffic sign or signal. <br /> <br /> Sub& 4. The issuance of a permit may also be subject to <br />conditions in order to promote a more reasonable combination of signs and <br />to promote conformity with the character and uses of adjoining property. <br />The conditions will be subject to the discretion of the zoning officer and <br />consistent with the purpose a~ defined in Section 170,051. <br /> <br />170.053H Illuminated signs <br /> <br />No illuminated sign which changes in either color or intensity of light shall <br />be permitted, except one giving public service information such as time, <br /> <br /> <br />
