The city zoning officer <br />in granting permits for illuminated signs shall specify the hours during <br />which the same may be kept lighted when necessary to prevent the creation <br />of a nuisance. There shall be no use of revolving beacons, zip flashers or <br />similar devices which cause any of the sources of light to change in <br />intensity, unless as noted above. <br /> <br />170.053I Mnintenance <br /> Subdivision 1. The surface and structure of all signs must be <br />kept refinished as necessary to prevent the sign surface from becoming <br />unkempt in appearance. When any sign for which a permit is required is <br />removed, the zoning officer shall be notified and the entire sign and its <br />components shall be removed. <br /> <br /> Subd. 2. The permit owner shall be responsible for all of the <br />requirements of this ordinance, including the liability for expense of <br />removal and maintenance incurred by the city. <br /> <br />170.053J Motion signs <br /> <br />Motion signs are not permitted in any zoning district. <br /> <br />170.053K Portable signs <br /> <br />Portable signs are permitted only in thc ............. bus~ness type districts <br />with a temporary ~i_~ permit issued by the zonin~ officer for ten (10) day <br />periods, but limited to three (3) times a year per business. This additional height, however, shall <br />not be considered as part of the wall area and shall not warrant additional <br />sign area. The supporting members of a roof sign shall appear to be free of <br />any extra bracing, angle iron, guy wires, cables, etc. The supports shall <br />appear to be an architectural and integral part of the building.
