I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />POSITION OF THE UNION <br /> <br />The Union proposes that the following language be added to <br /> <br />Article 16 - Holidays - as follows: <br /> <br />"In addition to the holidays off, employees shall be <br />entitled to 1-1/2 times their hourly rate for each <br />hour worked on a holiday. Such holidays shall <br />include: New Year's Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving <br />Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Christmas Day, <br />Independence Day, Good Friday, Easter, Martin Luther <br />King's Birthday, and Christmas Eve Day." <br /> <br />POSITION OF THE CITY <br /> <br /> The-city's'~.position is that there should be no change from <br />the expired labor agreement noting that the city does not currently <br />provide premium pay for holidays worked to any City employee and <br />to the employees represented by the LELSo <br /> <br />AWARD <br /> <br />The agreed to addition of Section 16.3 quoted above is <br /> <br />hereby awarded having been agreed to by the parties. It is hereby <br /> <br />awarded that Article 16.1 is hereby revised as follows: <br /> <br />"Effective January 1, 1990, employees required to <br />work on any of the holidays of Independence Day (4th <br />of July), Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, shall <br />receive an additional 1/2 time for each hour they <br />work"on such holiday." <br /> <br />RATIONALE <br /> <br /> I am fully cognizant of the argument of the City to the <br />effect that it does not want to get into the area of premium pay <br />for working on holidays because of the general requirement and <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br /> <br />
