JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR TIlE ACQUISITION OF <br />OPTICAL SCAN VOTE TABULATION EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />COp <br /> <br /> THIS JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT, made and entered into by and between the <br />undersigned units of government, all acting by and through their governing bodies, pursuant to <br />Minn. Stat. § 471.59 providing for the joint exercise of powers. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the undersigned governmental units located within Anoka County desire to <br />use Unisys ES-2000 optical scan vote tabulation equipment beginning with the 1990 state primary <br />and state general elections; and <br /> <br /> WHE~S, the Unisys Corporation has submitted to the Minnesota Secretary of State a <br />request for certification of the Unisys ES-2000 optical scan .vote tabulation system; and <br /> <br /> WHERFakS, the Minnesota Secretary of State has approved Anoka County's use of the <br />Unisys ES-2000 system on an experimental basis pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 206.81 in the 1990 state <br />primary and state general elections; and <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual agreement'contained herein, the <br />parties agree as follows: <br /> <br /> I. PURPOSE <br /> <br /> The parties agree that they have joined together for the purpose of acquiring the <br /> <br />Unisys ES-2000 optical scan vote tabulation computer hardware and software for county-wide use <br />beginning with the 1990 state primary and state general elections. <br /> <br /> II. JOINT POWERS PARTICIPANrI'S <br /> <br /> Anoka County and any municipality located within Anoka County are eligible to <br /> <br />participate in :'this joint powers agreement. The conditions of this joint powers agreement shall <br />be effective as to an eligible participant when the joint powers agreement has been executed by <br />the duly authorized representatives of that party.
