Presentation

Associate Planner Geisler advised the City has received an application from Julie Lorge for a
home occupation permit to establish a one-chair hair salon in her home located at 7021 153rd
Avenue NW. She stated Ms. Lorge is proposing to relocate her established one-chair hair salon
from her previous home in Ramsey to the subject property. The applicant applied for and
received a home occupation permit for the salon at her previous home in 1994. The City has not
received any complaints about the applicant's salon business. She stated City Code restricts
home occupations to 20% of the gross floor area of the home, and the room in which the home
occupation will take place is 312 square feet, which equates to about 18% of the gross floor area.
She indicated the applicant will continue to be the sole employee, and expects to service
approximately 25-30 clients per week. She stated clients would typically visit the salon on
weekdays with occasional evening and weekend appointments. She indicated Staff recommends
approval of the request for a home occupation permit.

Citizen Input

None

Adjournment

Motion by Commissioner Van Scoy, seconded by Commissioner Brauer to close the public
hearing at 7:10 p.m.

Motion carried.
