a. Bar lengths, depths, and/or bends exceeding the specified <br />fabrication tolerances; <br />b. Bends or kinks not shown on the Drawings; <br />c. Bars with reduced cross-section due to excessive rusting or other <br />cause. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 SURFACE CONDITIONS <br />A. Examine the areas and conditions under which work of this Section will be <br />performed. Correct conditions detrimental to timely and proper completion of <br />the Work. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. <br />3.2 INSTALLATION <br />A. General: <br />1. Comply with the specified standards for detail and method of placing <br />reinforcement and supports, except as may be modified herein. <br />2. Clean reinforcement to remove loose rust and mill scale, earth, and other <br />materials which reduce or destroy bond with concrete. <br />3. Position, support, and secure reinforcement against displacement by form <br />work, construction, and concrete placing operations. <br />4. Locate and support reinforcement by metal chairs, runners, bolsters, <br />spacers, and hangers, as required. <br />5. Place reinforcement to obtain minimum coverage for concrete protection. <br />6. Arrange, space, and securely tie bars and bar supports together with the <br />specified tie wire. <br />7. Set wire ties so twisted ends are directed away from exposed concrete <br />surfaces. <br />B. Install welded wire fabric in as long lengths as practicable, lapping adjoining <br />pieces at least one full mesh. <br />C. Provide sufficient numbers of supports, and of strength to carry the <br />reinforcement. <br />D. Do not place reinforcing bars more than 2" beyond last leg of any continuous bar <br />support. <br />E. Do not use supports as bases for runways for concrete conveying equipment and <br />similar construction loads. <br />3.3 SPLICES <br />A. Lap splices: <br />03200-3 <br />
