3. Aggregate, coarse: Crushed rock or washed gravel with minimum size of <br />3/4", and with a maximum size of 1-1/2" (footings), 1" (pavements), 3/4" <br />all other concrete (3/8" topping on precast). <br />4. Aggregate, fine: Natural washed sand of hard and durable particles <br />varying from fine to particles passing a 3/8" screen, of which at least <br />12% shall pass a 50-mesh screen. <br />5. Water: Clean and potable. <br />6. Admixtures: Secure prior approval of Architect. <br />7. Provide the following slumps: <br />a. Slab on grade 3". <br />b. All others 4". <br />B. Provide concrete with the compressive strengths shown on the Drawings. If not <br />indicated provide 3,000 psi for footings. Provide 4,000 psi for exterior concrete, <br />and interior slab on grade, and topping on precast concrete slabs. <br />C. Water cement ratio: All concrete exposed to freeze/thaw conditions, deicers or <br />required to be water tight shall have a water -cement ratio of 0.45 maximum. <br />Other concrete shall have maximum water -cement ratio of 0.53 maximum. <br />2.5 CURING COMPOUND AND SEALING COMPOUND <br />A. After final troweling and surface water glaze has disappeared apply "L&M Cure" <br />by L&M Construction Chemicals. <br />B. "Seal Hard" by L&M Construction Chemicals. <br />2.6 NON -SHRINK GROUT <br />A. Euco NS (non-metallic) by the Euclid Chemical Company and Masterflow 117 <br />(non-metallic) by Master Builders. The grout shall conform to CRO-C-621 - latest <br />edition, "Corps. of Engineers Specifications for Non -Shrink Grout." <br />2.7 MIXES <br />A. ASTM C-94 - latest edition. <br />B. Mix concrete only in quantities for immediate use. <br />C. Do not re -temper or use set concrete. <br />D. Each truck shall have time of departure from mixing plant stamped on ticket. 1 <br />hour is the maximum time between time concrete mix is placed in truck and the <br />placing of concrete mix in forms. <br />2.8 WATER STOPS <br />03300-4 <br />
