Development Services Manager Gladhill requested the motion reflect a friendly amendment as <br />previously discussed by the Commission, noting weapons shall be secured per direction from the <br />Police Chief and the provisions of which shall be negotiated in the Conditional Use Permit. <br />Commissioner Bauer supported this friendly amendment to his motion. Commissioner VanScoy <br />agreed. <br />Development Services Manager Gladhill commented there were five or six parcels that were <br />contiguous to the property at 167th Avenue and Highway 47. He explained the proposed motion <br />would place each of these parcels into the overlay district. <br />Commissioner Bauer supported this friendly amendment to his motion. He explained the City received a request from Total Defense, Inc. requesting a conditional <br />use permit to operate an indoor shooting range on the property located at 6001 167th Avenue <br />NW. He reported the applicant has requested a one bay, 10-lane shooting range with space for a <br />second bay with 9-10 shooting lanes. Staff reviewed the request in detail and recommended <br />approval of the conditional use permit to operate an indoor shooting range contingent upon the <br />adoption of a zoning amendment to identify indoor commercial recreation as a conditional use in <br />the B-1 District and said ordinance becoming effective. <br />Citizen Input <br />Commissioner VanScoy questioned where the childcare facility was located. <br />City Planner Anderson reviewed the location of the childcare facility in the retail node <br />explaining it was directly adjacent to the proposed indoor shooting range. <br />Planning Commission/January 9, 2014 <br />Page 7 of 12 <br />
