9.12.13 <br />Subd. 1 <br /> <br />Subd. 2 <br /> <br />9.12.14 <br />Subd. 1 <br /> <br />Subd. 2 <br /> <br />9.12.15 <br />Subd. 1 <br /> <br />9.12.16 <br /> <br />Thepermit~e <br /> <br />9.12.17 <br /> <br />Subd. 1 <br /> <br />bo <br /> <br />Open Signs: Thirty-six (36) pounds per square foot of the total face area of <br />the letters and other sign surfaces, or ten (10) pounds per square foot of the <br />gross surface area of the sign, whichever is greater. <br /> <br />SIGN INSTALLERS LICENSE <br /> <br />No person, firm or corporation shall engage in the business of erecting, altering, <br />extending, repairing or maintaining signs or sign structures within the City of <br />Ramsey without first having procured a license in accordance with the provisions of <br />Chapter 7 (Licensing and Permits). <br />Applicants not engaged in the business of erecting signs who choose to construct <br />and erect a sign on their own property shall be exempt from the provisions of <br />license as stipulated in Chapter 7 of the Ramsey City Code. <br /> <br />NON-CONFORMING SIGNS <br /> <br />Any business signs lawfully existing prior to the adoption of this chapter shall be <br />considered legal non-conforming and shall be allowed to continue in use. Other <br />than for change of copy or normal maintenance, a business sign shall lose the <br />designation "legal non-conforming" if the sign is discontinued for a period of 60 <br />days, expanded, relocated, replaced, altered, or damaged by more than 50% of the <br />sign market value. If any property use or business changes ownership, all non- <br />conforming signs on that property shall be brought into conformity with this <br />Ordinance within 60 days. <br /> <br />Any business signs unlawfully existing at the time of adoption of this chapter shall <br />be considered illegal non-conforming and shall be brought into conformity with the <br />Ordinance within 60 days. <br /> <br />PERMITS REQUIRED <br /> <br />All signs, except those described in Section 9.12.17 (Exemptions) shall require <br />permits and payment of fees. No permit is required for the maintenance of a sign or <br />for a change of copy on printed, or changeable copy signs. Permits are required for <br />all existing, new, relocated, modified or redesigned signs that are not exempted <br />under Section 9.12.17. <br /> <br />PERMIT FEES <br /> <br />shall be as provided in City Council resolution. <br /> <br />EXEMPTIONS <br /> <br />The exemptions permitted by this section shall apply only to the requirement of a <br />permet and/or fee and shall not be construed as relieving the installer of the sign, or <br />the owner of the property upon which the sign is located, from conforming with the <br />other provisions of this ordinance. <br /> <br />Sign Ord, Rev.
