WHEREAS, previously, the Police Department provided (purchased and paid for) all uniforms <br />whether it be Class A, Class B, or Class C uniforms, as applicable for the AFSCME positions of <br />Crime Prevention Specialist, Community Service Officer, and Police Technician; and <br />WHEREAS, for 2014, Class C uniforms shall no longer be provided by the Police Department. <br />THEREFORE, the parties met, negotiated and agreed upon the following: <br />1. For 2014, the City will provide a monetary uniform stipend to the Crime Prevention <br />Specialist and the Community Service Officer for Class C uniforms in the amount of <br />$140.00; and <br />2. For 2014, the City will provide a monetary uniform stipend to the Police Technicians for <br />Class C uniforms in the amount of $80.00; and <br />2. The annual Class C uniform stipend will be paid to the Crime Prevention Specialist, the <br />Community Service Officer, and the Police Technicians EMPLOYEES in one payment <br />through their regular biweekly payroll disbursement. This stipend will be included in the <br />EMPLOYEES' taxable earnings and applicable taxes will be withheld according to <br />Internal Revenue Service; and <br />3. The uniform stipend will be paid on the second payroll in March. <br />4. In the event any such items are lost or damaged through the negligence of the <br />EMPLOYEE possessing said property, (reasonable wear and depreciation expected), <br />such EMPLOYEE shall be financially responsible for the replacement of said negligently <br />lost or destroyed item. <br />Police Department Uniforms: <br />The following definitions are an excerpt from the Department policy, section 800: <br />CLASS A UNIFORM — A Class A Uniform shall consist of a long sleeve shirt, tie, tie clasp, <br />collar brass, dress pants, polished shoes and service hat. <br />CLASS B UNIFORM — A Class B Uniform shall consist of a short sleeve shirt with an open <br />collar and no tie. Collar brass and polished shoes shall be worn. <br />CLASS C UNIFORM — A Class C Uniform may be worn by police personnel on special <br />assignments or duties. A Class C Uniform may consist of a polo shirt (long or short sleeve), <br />button down shirt (long or short sleeve) or other shirt as approved by the Chief of Police. To be <br />considered a Class C Uniform, the shirt must have a department badge patch sewn on. Cargo or <br />Tactical pants may be worn as part of a Class C Uniform. <br />
