The trail will be both a bicycle and <br />pedestrian facility that is proposed to be off street trail. It is expected to become an <br />important link in the Mississippi River Trail. The project will connect to the Big River's <br />Trail, Harriet Island/Lilydale Regional park trails, connects via Wabasha bridge to the <br />Samuel H. Morgan Regional Trail. The project will utilize existing City Rights of Way or <br />easements granted by public entities. As part of the Mississippi River Trail, this project <br />will increase connectivity to large portions of the MISS, especially between this node <br />and the Hastings node to the south. It will provide a non -motorized connection between <br />two river based parks and provide expansive views of the working river activity. It is <br />expected that the trail signage will provide multiple opportunities to recognize and <br />enhance the MISS visitor's experience and visibility. <br />Red Rock Corridor Trail <br />Newport (Newport emerging node) <br />Peter Mott <br />$1,500,000 (requesting $300,000) <br />A 10'-wide, three-quarter mile segment connecting the Newport Red Rock Corridor <br />Transit Station with the Mississippi River Trail and Mississippi River. <br />Interactive Union Depot Displays <br />Downtown St. Paul node <br />Josh Olson <br />$10,000 <br />NPS would install an interactive display and interpretive panels to include the <br />rivertripplanner.org and other information about the MISS Alternative Transportation <br />System inside the Union Depot Train Station/node. These displays would inform visitors <br />coming to MISS by bus, light rail, and Amtrak how to navigate the MISS ATS and its many <br />destinations from the Union Depot (and other nodes) without a car. The interactive <br />display and panels would be permanently installed in the area where travelers arrive <br />and depart. <br />Interactive Airport Signage <br />Minneapolis -St. Paul International Airport <br />Jana Vaughn, Airport Foundation MSP <br />$50,000 (requesting $20,000) <br />NPS would work with the Airport Foundation MSP, Metro Transit, Nice Ride Minnesota, <br />and other partners to develop and install an interactive display and interpretive panels <br />to include the rivertripplanner.org and other information about the MISS Alternative <br />Transportation System inside the Minneapolis -St. Paul International Airport. These <br />displays would inform visitors coming to MISS by air how to navigate the MISS ATS and <br />its many destinations from the MSP Airport (and MISS nodes) without a car.
