January 23, 2014 <br />The following are brief updates regarding development projects located within the community. For more detailed information, <br />please contact the Community Development Department at 763-433-9824, planning@cityoframsey.com or visit <br />www.citvoframsev.com /planning -division. <br />Contractor Networking Event on January 29 <br />The City will be hosting a Contractor Networking Event on Wednesday, January 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Alexander <br />Ramsey Room. The goal of the event is to foster networking, education, and potential City process and standard improvements <br />based on attendee feedback. City officials will be providing updates on recent City projects and initiatives. Herman Hauglid of <br />the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry will be providing attendees with an update on the status of the Minnesota <br />State Building Code Update scheduled for 2014. The event will wrap up with an interactive opportunity for attendees to suggest <br />potential improvements to City standards and processes. RSVP is required at www.cityoframsey.com/permits. <br />Total Defense Indoor Shooting Range <br />On January 28, the City Council will consider introducing an ordinance (first reading) related to allowing indoor commercial <br />recreation, including indoor shooting ranges, on parcels located within the B-1 General Business District at the 167th <br />Avenue/Highway 47 Node. The City Council would then consider adopting the ordinance (second reading) on February 11. <br />Cold Weather Impacting Construction Timelines <br />As to be expected with extreme cold weather conditions, construction projects and associated timelines are impacted in certain <br />weather conditions. Under Minnesota Building Code, certain trades are impacted more than others due to the impacts of cold <br />weather. Most impacted are those projects that involve concrete and masonry construction. With temperatures below zero, a <br />number of existing projects are experiencing delays. <br />What Amenities Should the City Plan For in the Future Lake Feature in The COR? <br />Over the past several years, the City has been refining the development plan for the area known as The COR. The COR is a <br />mixed -use development that is home to the Northstar Commuter Rail — Ramsey Station. <br />The Development Plan for The COR includes a future lake feature <br />anticipated to include both active and passive recreational <br />opportunities as well as small-scale private development. The City is <br />looking for your help in discussing potential improvements and <br />amenities of this area of The COR. What recreation opportunities <br />should be studied further? What adjacent uses would help compliment <br />this feature?
