City of Ramsey 2030 Comprehensive Plan <br />Appendix A: Community Background <br />Aviation <br />There are no aviation facilities in the City of Ramsey. However, the City is within the region's general <br />airspace which needs to be protected from potential obstructions to air navigation. The nearest airport <br />facilities for the City of Ramsey include the Anoka County airport in Blaine and the Minneapolis/St. Paul <br />International Airport near Richfield. <br />Under Minnesota Statues 360, the state regulates the height of structures as they are defined and enforced <br />under Aeronautics Rules and Regulations 8800.1200 Criteria for Determining Air Navigation <br />Obstructions. Subparagraph 4(B) states: <br />"objects more than 200 feet above the ground or more than 200 feet above the established airport <br />elevation, whichever gives the higher elevation, within three nautical miles of the nearest runway of an <br />airport, and increasing in the proportion of the 100 feet for each additional nautical mile of distance from <br />the airport but not exceeding 500 feet above ground", is a general obstruction. <br />Notification to MnDOT Aeronautics is required when any object as defined above would affect general <br />airspace. <br />Notification: Any sponsor who proposes any construction of alteration that would exceed a height of 200 <br />feet above ground level at the site, or any construction or alteration of greater height than an imaginary <br />surface extending upward and outward at a slope of 100:1 from the nearest point of the nearest runway <br />of a public airport shall notify the Commissioner at least 30 days in advance <br />Local reporting is in addition to any Federal permitting/review process (FAA Form 7460-8) involving a <br />sponsor/proposal. <br />City of Ramsey 2030 Comprehensive Plan Appendix A-54 <br />
