City Administrator Ulrich stated he would contact the Mayor to call an Emergency Council <br />Meeting in the Alexander Ramsey Room and then it can be decided if an emergency should be <br />declared or press conference called. <br />Fire Chief Kapler stated he likes the suggestion of Councilmember Kuzma to publish a proactive <br />article in the Ramsey Resident to inform residents of what to expect in the event of a disaster or <br />state of emergency. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau asked what the protocol is if he does not have communication. He <br />asked if he would assure his family is secure and then report to the Municipal Center. <br />Fire Chief Kapler stated he would say family is first and then report to the Municipal Center. <br />Police Chief Way stated there is also a chain of command if the Mayor cannot be reached. <br />Councilmember Tossey arrived at 6:18 p.m. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau suggested staff design a disaster webpage that contains telephone <br />numbers and links can be activated in the event of a disaster. <br />The Council agreed with that suggestion. <br />Informational; no action required. <br />2.02: Discuss Department Reporting <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed the staff report and intent to present monthly department <br />reports to the Council during a Regular meeting. He reviewed the anticipated schedule and <br />report content depending on the department. City Administrator Ulrich stated staff creates a <br />weekly update and a timely update if there is such an issue. He asked for feedback on written <br />reports the Council finds to be useful and/or beneficial. <br />Councilmember Riley stated he reads all reports produced by staff but the most important thing <br />the Police Department does is not preparing reports to the Council. He stated he would like <br />reports on what is happening and background on staffing needs. Councilmember Riley stated the <br />Council is already closer to hearing what is going on with economic development but with the <br />Fire Department, he would like to know what is going on and upcoming equipment purchases. <br />Police Chief Way asked what topics are of interest. He stated the monthly police report details <br />the numbers and types of calls they have made. <br />Councilmember Riley stated that information is helpful and if there is a big accident or case of <br />interest, he would like that information.
