Engineering Department Weekly Updates — <br />City Improvement Project Updates <br />• Riverdale Drive Extension and Reconstruction - <br />o Proposed reconstruction of Riverdale Drive between Armstrong Boulevard and <br />cul -de -sac east of Alpaca Street, extension of Riverdale Drive to Traprock Street, <br />and TH 10 connection improvements at Traprock Street. <br />o Funding includes $702,000 in Cooperative Agreement funding from MnDOT. <br />o Final plans and specifications are being reviewed for approval by the Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation (MnDOT). <br />o The City Council has approved plans and specifications and authorized <br />advertising for bids once MnDOT approval is received. <br />o Construction will occur in the summer /fall of 2014. <br />• Armstrong Boulevard Trail Extension - <br />o A 10 - foot wide bituminous trail is being constructed in the right - of - way west of <br />Armstrong Boulevard between Alpine Drive and 161s Avenue. <br />o Construction will be complete by the end of June. <br />• Mississippi River Trail (MRT) - <br />o This phase of the MRT includes construction of a 10 -foot wide off -road <br />bituminous trail and development of on -road bike lanes between King's Island <br />and Traprock Street in the cities of Anoka and Ramsey. <br />o The City of Anoka is the lead agency for this project. <br />o Construction will be complete by the fall of 2014. <br />• Alpine Drive Railroad Crossing Quiet Zone Improvements - <br />o A contractor has been retained to complete the necessary improvements to allow <br />this railroad crossing to become a quiet zone. <br />o Work is currently scheduled to occur in the first week of June. <br />o The Federal Railroad Administration must inspect and approve the improvements <br />once they are complete. <br />o This railroad crossing is anticipated to become a quiet zone in the fall of 2014. <br />• 2014 Street Maintenance Project (SMP) - <br />o Division A (crack -seal and sealcoat) work is scheduled to occur between June 6th <br />and August 1st <br />o Division B (Sunwood Drive overlay) work has not yet been scheduled, but must <br />be completed by August 1st <br />• 2014 Street Maintenance Project (SMP) Phase 2 - <br />o Proposes an additional 6 miles of crack sealing and sealcoating. <br />o Bids are being advertised on May 23r , May 30 and June 6th <br />o Bids will be opened June 13t <br />o Council will consider awarding a contract on June 24 <br />o All work must be completed by August 15 <br />Anoka County Highway Project Updates <br />• Ramsey Boulevard Pavement Reclamation — <br />o This project includes grinding the existing pavement section into new class 5 <br />aggregate base and adding 4" of new bituminous pavement. <br />o No new turn or bypass lanes will be added. <br />o Public notification postcards mailed May 21st <br />Our Mission: To work together to responsibly grow our community, and to provide quality, cost - effective, and efficient government services <br />
