Engineering Department Weekly Updates — City Improvement Project Updates • Riverdale Drive Extension and Reconstruction - o Proposed reconstruction of Riverdale Drive between Armstrong Boulevard and cul -de -sac east of Alpaca Street, extension of Riverdale Drive to Traprock Street, and TH 10 connection improvements at Traprock Street. o Funding includes $702,000 in Cooperative Agreement funding from MnDOT. o Final plans and specifications are being reviewed for approval by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). o The City Council has approved plans and specifications and authorized advertising for bids once MnDOT approval is received. o Construction will occur in the summer /fall of 2014. • Armstrong Boulevard Trail Extension - o A 10 - foot wide bituminous trail is being constructed in the right - of - way west of Armstrong Boulevard between Alpine Drive and 161s Avenue. o Construction will be complete by the end of June. • Mississippi River Trail (MRT) - o This phase of the MRT includes construction of a 10 -foot wide off -road bituminous trail and development of on -road bike lanes between King's Island and Traprock Street in the cities of Anoka and Ramsey. o The City of Anoka is the lead agency for this project. o Construction will be complete by the fall of 2014. • Alpine Drive Railroad Crossing Quiet Zone Improvements - o A contractor has been retained to complete the necessary improvements to allow this railroad crossing to become a quiet zone. o Work is currently scheduled to occur in the first week of June. o The Federal Railroad Administration must inspect and approve the improvements once they are complete. o This railroad crossing is anticipated to become a quiet zone in the fall of 2014. • 2014 Street Maintenance Project (SMP) - o Division A (crack -seal and sealcoat) work is scheduled to occur between June 6th and August 1st o Division B (Sunwood Drive overlay) work has not yet been scheduled, but must be completed by August 1st • 2014 Street Maintenance Project (SMP) Phase 2 - o Proposes an additional 6 miles of crack sealing and sealcoating. o Bids are being advertised on May 23r , May 30 and June 6th o Bids will be opened June 13t o Council will consider awarding a contract on June 24 o All work must be completed by August 15 Anoka County Highway Project Updates • Ramsey Boulevard Pavement Reclamation — o This project includes grinding the existing pavement section into new class 5 aggregate base and adding 4" of new bituminous pavement. o No new turn or bypass lanes will be added. o Public notification postcards mailed May 21st Our Mission: To work together to responsibly grow our community, and to provide quality, cost - effective, and efficient government services
