C. not be placed within the slope preservation zone, bluff impact <br />zone, or shore impact zone. <br />Subpart 4. Private water access and viewing facilities. <br />A. Access paths: <br />(1) if placed within the shore impact zone, an access path must <br />be no more than eight feet wide; and <br />(2) if placed within the bluff impact zone or slope preservation <br />zone, an access path must be no more than four feet wide. <br />B. Water access ramps: <br />must comply with chapters 6115 and 6280; and <br />must be designed and constructed consistent with the <br />applicable standards in the Design Handbook for <br />Recreational Boating and Fishing Facilities, incorporated by <br />reference under part 6106.0090. <br />C. Stairways, lifts and landings. Design and construction of <br />stairways, lifts, and landings are subject to the following <br />standards: <br />stairways and lifts must not exceed four feet in width on <br />residential lots. Wider stairways may be used for <br />commercial properties and residential facilities held in <br />common, if approved by the local government; <br />(2) landings for stairways and lifts on residential lots must not <br />exceed 32 square feet in area. Landings larger than 32 <br />square feet may be used for commercial properties, and <br />residential facilities held in common, if approved by the <br />local government; <br />canopies or roofs are prohibited on stairways, lifts, or <br />landings; <br />(4) stairways, lifts, and landings must be located in the least <br />visible portion of the lot; and <br />facilities such as ramps, lifts, or mobility paths for persons <br />with physical disabilities are allowed for achieving access to <br />shore areas according to items (1) to (4) and as provided <br />under part 6106.0080, subpart 7. <br />(1) <br />(2) <br />(1) <br />(3) <br />(5) <br />D. Shoreline recreational use areas. One shoreline recreation use <br />area is allowed on each lot, not to exceed 5,000 square feet in <br />total area and 12% of the total lot width or 25 feet, whichever is <br />greater, and not extending more than 25 feet landward from <br />the OHWL. <br />E. Water- oriented accessory structures. One water - oriented <br />accessory structure may be allowed for each riparian lot less <br />than 300 feet in width at the ordinary high water level, with one <br />additional water - oriented accessory structure allowed per each <br />additional 300 feet of shoreline on the same lot. Water - <br />oriented accessory structures are prohibited in the bluff impact <br />This subpart identifies private water access <br />and use facilities and provides specific <br />standards for them. <br />Provisions are applicable to residential and to <br />commercial recreation, i.e. yacht clubs, <br />rowing clubs, private institutions, etc. <br />Item C describes the design standards for <br />private stairways, lifts and landings.
