These planning activities basically designated urban and rural service areas, and resulted in zoning and subdivision regulations for controlling new residential and commercial development. 2. Throughout the 1980's, the City of Ramsey continued to experience above - average residential growth. Until 1985, much of this residential development occurred throughout the City as large -lot residential developments without the benefit of municipal sanitary sewer and water services. In 1985,.the southeastern part of the City received central sanitary sewer. In 1980, the City prepared its comprehensive plan in response to the Metropolitan Land Planning Act of 1976. Since, 1980, the City has prepared several amendments to its original plan. The purpose of these plan amendments has been for the most part to amend its urban service area in response to continued residential development pressure. In addition, however, the City developed four distinct development areas as part of its 1990 plan amendment. 4. The consulting team also met with adjacent cities to evaluate the existence of shared land use and transportation issues. In summary, these issues include: * The planned land uses and site design criteria for the Anoka Enterprise Park and the possible extension of McKinley Street. * The potential for future commercial land uses at the intersection of TH 116and TH47. * The potential Dayton and Ramsey Mississippi River bridge crossing. The City of Elk River land use and public facility planning activities that the City of Ramsey may wish to monitor. LAND USE AND TRANSPORTATION CORRIDOR ALTERNATIVES The following are descriptions of possible land uses and transportation corridors identified by the working group. In some cases several alternatives were evaluated by the working group and the enclosed are the "preferred" alternative(s). The following text corresponds with a figure attached to this memorandum.
