Mayor Gamec replied that normal cracking is not something we can pin on anybody. These utility companies tend to raise their prices in order to cover the cost of having to make repairs. Mrs. O'Connor - 15311 Iguana - Project ~84-5 - Referring again to the parking of semi-trailers in a residential neighborhood, is it allowed because we are in an urban area? Mr. Berg - Stated that according to ordinance, semi parking is not allowed in platted areas. Carolyn Hamilton - Project #84-5 - We were told by the police department that semi's could park in our neighborhood. Councilmember Sorteberg dismissed himself from the meeting at this time. Mr. Berg stated that it seems that he and the police depar~tment have a different interpretation of the ordinance and those citizens that are concerned should approach the City Attorney for an Opinion. Mrs. O'Connor - Why should I put more money into the street when the City is not seeing to the street being taken care of; On County Road 83 there is a 'no vehicles over 5 tons allowed' sign. Mayor Gamec informed Mrs. O'Connor that the State will be lifting those restrictions as of May 15. Mrs. Buldoc - 17035 St. Francis Blvd. - Project ~84-15 - When the roads were blacktopped I was assessed for two lots that I own in that area and I didn't even know beforehand that they were being blacktopped. I requested a copy of the blacktopping notice that was sent out from the City, and Staff refused me. Now we are being assessed for sealcoating and we don't even use the road. Pam Golden - 7831 151st Lane - Project ~84-6 - Has someone actually inspected our streets and verified that they need sealcoating? There is someone living in the area that does this type of thing for a living and he says our roads don't need sealcoating yet. City Engineer Raatikka stated that he and the street superintendent do the inspections. Many of the intersections are bad and you can't split up an area that is being considered for sealcoating; we have to do the entire area. Mayor Gamec pointed out that less traffic is harder on a road than heavy traffic use is; it takes away the pliability of the street and the pavement becomes brittle and breaks up. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Van Wagner to adjourn this public hearing. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers and Van Wagner.
