Case #1.A: Discussion Of Truck Traffic/School Bus Routes On 153rd <br /> Avenu~ N.W.: <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that Burlington Northern has indicated to Ramsey's <br />Police Department that there have been a number of shear pins lost on the <br />crossing arms at the Armstrong Blvd. railroad crossing. Ramsey's police <br />department theorizes that truck traffic is unable to clear the tracks while <br />waiting to enter Hwy. #10 and the shear pins are broke off when arms come <br />down and hit the trucks. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that the School District hopes to have school <br />bus stops relocated by September 14. Councilmember Cox stated that in the <br />meantime, parents should make sure children are standing well off the road <br />while waiting for school buses. <br /> <br />Charles Weaver - North Fork Development - Stated he has met with and <br />requested that the Executive Director of the Transportation Regulatory <br />Board encourage Burlington Northern to establish the Dayton railroad <br />crossing. Mr. Weaver will also be seeking support from MN/DoT's Director <br />of Crossings. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann stated that he has contacted Senator Dahl's office for their <br />support in obtaining the Dayton crossing. <br /> <br />Motion by Conmcilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember DeLuca directing <br />City Staff to forward a copy of Ramsey's resolution petitioning for the the <br />Dayton railroad crossing to Senator Dahl and Representative Larsen; a cover <br />letter should be attached encouraging their immediate support of the <br />resolution. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mr. Roger Buchanan - Presented Council with photos taken on the morning of <br />9-8-87 which indicate the proximity of truck traffic to the street curb; <br />Council reviewed the photos. Mr. Buchanan noted that in addition to <br />the regular school bus stops, the activity bus stops should also be <br />relocated. Noted that Whispering Pines is not opposed to the development <br />of Northfork or the private lake but it should be done as quickly and as <br />safely as possible. <br /> <br />Vic Hagenah - 15231 Jackal - Stated that it was he who urged Senator Dahl <br />to call Ramsey's officials regarding this situation; somebody should have <br />initiated this action a long time ago. Stated that his wife has also been <br />discussing the matter with Darryl Sherman of MN/DoT Truck Center. The City <br />should have recognized the seriousness of the activity associated with <br />creating a lake when they reviewed the project. <br /> <br />Case #2: Report On Fiscal Disparities By Charles Weaver: <br /> <br />Mr. Charles Weaver reported that there are problems with fiscal disparity <br />and he has been working for a couple of years to preserve the fiscal <br /> City Council/September 8, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 5 of 10 <br /> <br /> <br />
