CITY OF RAMSEY <br />Description of Community Programs and Donations <br />Healthcare/Hospital Advocacy - Includes responding to referrals from Unity and Mercy Hospitals, Coon <br />Rapids Women's Health and Allina Medical Center in Coon Rapids, providing support during SANE or <br />Forensic Exam, information and referrals as well as follow-up with the client after their release from the <br />hospital/clinic to provide additional support, information and referrals as needed. <br />School Based Youth Advocacy - Includes services provided in the high school to students - meeting with <br />students individually who are experiencing domestic/sexual violence at home, in dating relationships or <br />with their peers, facilitating support groups and classroom presentations, programming in the middle <br />school through the Choose Respect Program, classroom presentations, and summer programming with <br />families. Also includes programming/support groups at Lino Lakes Juvenile Facilities. <br />Residential Emergency Shelter - 24 hour emergency shelter provided to residents who are in need of <br />safe temporary housing. During this time advocates work with residents to obtain long term safe <br />housing as well as addressing other needs they have and connecting them with community resources. <br />Follow up Advocacy - Services provided on an on -going basis with clients who have received services in <br />another program and have a need for on -going support services, assistance with housing, employment, <br />education or other needs identified. <br />Support Groups - Therapy and Support Services Program — Individual and family counseling provided <br />free of charge to adults, adolescents and children to address issues related to domestic and sexual <br />violence as well as past trauma, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Shelter residents are also able to receive <br />Rule 25 chemical health assessments and mental health assessments on site. Support group <br />programming includes eight different weekly support groups available to community members and <br />shelter residents. In addition, several groups are designed specifically for children and teens living in the <br />shelter. <br />Phone contact - Includes crisis/support & referrals given over the phone to community members who <br />are in need of resources, referrals or crisis support. <br />Financial - Food Shelf, Direct Financial Assistance, Participants of Holiday Gift Program <br />Anoka County Mediation Services <br />This program assists Anoka County residents with dispute resolution. Over the last 2.5 years, this <br />program has served 83 residents (2012: 32 residents, 2013: 31 residents, 2014 YTD 21 residents). Cases <br />are referred by the local police departments, other local sources, or residents contact the organization <br />independently. The city last contributed $2,426 in 2009. <br />Community Education <br />Anoka -Hennepin Community Education reaches more than half a million people every year - through <br />classes, services, tours, programs, outreach activities and athletics. Community Education is provided by <br />the Anoka -Hennepin School District as an efficient and effective way to offer residents of all ages the <br />opportunity for lifelong learning. The city last contributed $33,775 in 2009. <br />Page 4 <br />
