Motion carried., Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Kurak, Pearson, Cook, Elvig, <br />Strommen, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br />Case #8: Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Process Demolition Concrete in the <br />E -2 Employment District; Case of Sauter and Sons, Inc. <br />Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon stated that staff became aware that <br />demolition concrete was being stockpiled on the site at 6651 - 141 Avenue NW. Pursuant to <br />staff's request, Mr. Sauter applied for a conditional use permit to stockpile demolition concrete <br />on his property for purposes of crushing it into an aggregate to be used on other job sites. The <br />Planning Commission met on October 2, 2003, and recommended denial of the conditional use <br />permit. Since the Planning Commission meeting, staff met with Mr. Sauter and he indicated that <br />he no longer wonted to pursue the matter. Mr. Sauter requested 60 days to crush the concrete and <br />remove it from the site. <br />Counci (member Zimmerman inquired if the materials came from a project in Ramsey. <br />Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied that he was not sure. <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if Mr. Sauter felt that 60 days was enough time to remove <br />all of the material. <br />Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied that Mr. Sauter felt that 60 days <br />would be adequate. <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired as to what assurances does the City have that the materials will <br />be removed within 60 days. <br />Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied that the City would have no <br />recourse other than bringing the issue back to the Council. <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to allow Sauter and Sons, <br />Inc. 60 days to demolish and remove concrete from their site located at 6651 - 141 Avenue NW, <br />Ramsey. <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Strommen inquired if there were still environmental <br />concerns. Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied that staff did not have <br />any further information on environmental issues. Community Development Director Frolik <br />noted that she had talked to pollution control and they indicated that they would have to assume <br />that Mr. Sauter received the appropriate permits prior to demolition. Councilmember Elvig <br />recommended that the City verify that Mr. Sauter did have the appropriate demolition permits. <br />Motion was amended to direct staff to verify that the appropriate demolition permits were <br />received. <br />City Council /October 14, 2003 <br />Page 18 of 30 <br />
