Absent: CouncilmemberZimmerman. <br /> <br />Case #7: Report from Public Works Committee <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on December 16, 2003, to discuss the following cases: <br /> <br />1) Update on Park N Ride Facility <br />The Public Works Committee was informed that staff had been working on locating the new park <br />and ride facility on its permanent location within the Ramsey Town Center site. Staff presented <br />a few site plans for alternatives for the future park and ride. It was noted that staff was not <br />looking for a recommendation that night, but wanted the Committee to be aware of what staff is <br />looking at because it will be included in the project memorandum. The Tinklenberg Group is <br />working to try to receive additional funding for the project so that they are able to construct the <br />parking structure rather than only a parking lot initially. Staff has also met with Jim Lasher, a <br />designer of parking structures, and he explained that to design the first level you have to design <br />the entire ramp. Staff is expecting to get a response back from Jim Lasher on a proposed design <br />for the structure as well as the m~ount of parking capacity. <br /> <br />2) Consider Trail Completion of the T.H. #47 Trail <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the City Council authorize staff to obtain an <br />appraisal for the trail easement needed to complete the T.H. #47 trail connection. <br /> <br />3) Meeting with Congressman Oberstar <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the City Council direct staff to review the trail <br />connection in the City's CIP and talk to Mr. Oberstar about the possible grant opportunities and <br />then forward that infon-nation to the Park Con~nission. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gmnec, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the recommendations of <br />the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Cook, Elvig, Kurak, Pearson, <br />and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncihnemberZimmerman. <br /> <br />Case #8: Report from Personnel Committee <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee met earlier this evening and discussed the following cases: <br /> <br />1) Authorize Appointment of Fire Inspector <br />The Personnel Committee reco~mnended that the City Council authorize the appointment of Jerry <br />Streich to the position of Fire Inspector. With Council approval, Mr. Streich will transition to <br />the Fire Inspector position during the month of January 2004. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook and seconded by Councilmember Kurak to adopt Resolution <br />#04-01-010 appointing Jerry Streich to the position of Fire Inspector. <br /> <br />City Council/January 13, 2004 <br /> Page 18 of 24 <br /> <br /> <br />
