(Please refer to resolution file for Resolution 988-74). <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Cox. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Cas~ ~1_8: Waste. Management of Minnesota. Inc. ~Report On Keep America <br /> B~autiful Clean-Up Day And A Recycling Program: <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Miller of Waste Management of Minnesota, Inc. was present and <br />reported that the Clean-Up Day was a great success with over 500 residents <br />using the free disposal privilege. The value of the free dispoal to <br />residents was $45,000, which was paid for by the City and Waste Management. <br />Eleven tons of recyclables were collected at the Jaycee recycling center; <br />40 4-Hers cleaned roadsides; RYAA children and parents cleaned Central park <br />and smaller neighborhood parks. Over 100 people used the Household <br />Hazardous Waste Collection facility that was sponsored by the Ramsey <br />Landfill Commission in cooperation with MPCA. <br /> <br />Mr. Miller stated that what Ramsey has been doing is good and the City is <br />getting acknowledgement from the County and other political bodies; <br />Ramsey's efforts in the area of abatement and recycling should continue to <br />grow. Mr. Miller stated that he has learned that the opportunity for <br />cities to obtain funding for their own programs will be taken away if <br />counties fall short of their goals for source separation. Mr. Miller <br />stated that it is very important for Ramsey to be represented at the Metro <br />Council Waste Management Advisory Committee meeting on May 23 at 2:00 p.m. <br />to express that Ramsey is doing it's part in solid waste abatement. Mr. <br />Miller stated that another drop-off recycling center, in addition to the <br />one located at the Landfill, is being considered in the vicinity of County <br />Road #83 and Hwy. #10. <br /> <br />Dale Henderson of Recycle America of Waste 5~nagement of Blaine was present <br />to discuss the possibility of a pilot curbside pick-up project in Ramsey's <br />urban area. Mr. Henderson stated that about 175 lots in the urban area are <br />developed and there is the potential to obtain 14-15 tons of recyclable <br />materials from that area per year.
