Su bd. 4 <br /> <br />Portable signs. Portable signs are prohibited except as temporary signs as <br />provided for in Section 9.12.03 (Temporary Signs). <br /> <br />Subd. 5 Projecting signs. No projecting sign shall be permitted in any district. <br /> <br />Subd. 6 Roof signs. Roof signs are prohibited in any zoning district. <br /> <br />Subd. 7 <br /> <br />Signs on parked vehicles. Signs painted or mounted on or attached <br />to vehicles, trailers or equipment where the apparent primary purpose <br />of the vehicle or equipment is to display said sign. However, this is <br />not in any way intended to prohibit signs placed on or affixed to vehicles and <br />trailers, such as lettering on motor vehicles, where the sign is incidental to the ' <br />primary use of the vehicle, trailer and/or any other type of mobile equipment. <br /> <br />Subd. 8 <br /> <br />Signs on trees. Signs which are attached or otherwise affixed to trees or other <br />vegetation are prohibited. <br /> <br />Su bd. 9 <br /> <br />Signs painted on walls. Signs painted on an exterior wall, facia, parapet or a <br />chimney of a building or on a fence are prohibited. <br /> <br />Subd. 10 <br /> <br />Signs which imitate traffic control devices. Signs whichimitate, interfere <br />with, obstruct the view of, or can be confused with any authorized traffic control <br />sign, signal, or other device are prohibited. <br /> <br />9.12:05 TEMPORARY SIGNS <br /> <br />The following are the only type of temporary signs permitted in any district unless other types are <br />specifically allowed in the individual zoning districts. <br /> <br />Subd. 1 <br /> <br />Banners, pennants, whirling devices and revolvin.e searchlights or any <br />such sign resembling the same, are prohibited from use within the city except for <br />public events, or when used as an integral part of the design of a building, or <br />when used in conjunction with ~and openings (the initial commencement of <br />business) ...... ~ ...... ~ ..... A ~., ~ ...... ;,4 .... r ~;~ ~; ......... In the case of <br />grand openings or public events, banners, pennants, whirling devices and <br /> (~ (1~ :1~, <br />searchli-h~s shall be allowed for the week , .... ,.~, maximum) of said <br />public event or grand opening <br /> <br />$ u b d. <br /> <br />Political signs posted by a bona fide c:mdidate for political office, or by a person <br />or group promoting a political issue or a political candidate may be placed in an5, <br />district upon acquisition of a temporary sign permit at a fee established by city <br />council resolution. Political signs are limited to thirty-two (32) square feet in area <br />and such signs shall be removed within seven (7) days following the election. A <br />fixed fee per sign not removed within the seven (7) days following the election will <br />be established by the city council and will be used to defray the cost of removal. <br /> <br />Subd. 3 <br /> <br />Garage Sale anct Craft Sale signs. Advertising and directional garage and <br />craft sale signs are limited to six (6) square feet and shall be of the free-standing <br /> <br />Sign Ord.
