plane go~y ~pany $100,000 worth of work just today and involves two months
of work for ~ 50 e~ployees. ~here are very few people in this audience
tonight that ihave jobs that don't have reflections to air travel. If Gateway
were develope. 4, I would build a hangar there. Don't let the Metro Airports
Cozmission get their hands on anything. In regards to Mr. Babcock's statement,
he did not say that Schwartzman and Sons were oonsidering a hazardous waste
facility with ~okestacks; an airport would not abide that. In my opinion, the
airport would stop expansion of the landfill.

Ernie Larse. n - My neighbor and myself built in 1970-71; there was not Gateway
airport at that time. I am the second lot fr~n the safety zone; I am not
complair~g that much but we enjoy living in Ramsey and the airport was not
their when. I 'bought and built; I know there were several homes in that area
prior to'the airport because I was the City Assessor during that time.

Susan Beale -114851 Sunfish Lake Blvd. - Sukmitted a copy of a letter dated May
19, 1982 f[~ iAirports District Office to Mr. Rodney Massey of MPCA regarding
Woodlake 8!u~i~ary Services, Inc. 's permit application for expansion of the
Flying CloUd :~Sanitary Landfill at Eden Prairie. Disagree with the pro airport
person that l~ldfill expansion would be stopped by this airport. Eden Prairie
asked for 1an4fill expansion and FAA approved it, knowing the landfill is
there.

Sharon Mager - When the General Mills property was being considered for an
airport, I~ signed the petition against it and I did not live near the site.
When does this (k~ission make it's reom~endation to Council?

Chairman Ippel - ~his hearing will remain open for another 10 days, during
which time~written o0~ents can be sukmitted. This Commission will probably
conduct a ~eoial meeting the first week in September to discuss the hearing
and possible recommendation.

Sharon Mager - How much weight is given to public opinion?

Commissioner Sieber - It is a personal decision because each m~mber votes
according to his conscience.

Sharon Mager - Agree with Chairman Ippel's comments regarding Metro Council
putting things down our throats. City Council does that too. If this
Co~mission-r~ds City Council to adopt the plan, will there be more public
hearings?

Commissioner Steber - Everything done by ordinance has to have a public
hearing. ~he City would have to go with a G.O. bond to come up with $600,000
to $1,000,000; any G.O. bond goes to a referendum of the people and Council
cannot ovem.ri~ that. If something other than G.O. bonding is used to finance
the proj~, the citizens may not have the power to stop it. The citizens have
the power in any city gover~ent to do what needs to be done if they pay
attention; a c~ple of years ago that was not true.

Mr. Mex o 16000 Armstrong Blvd. - Who does this Commission represent? Do you
represent the people or development?

August 21, 1985
