Mr. Ottoi stated that Gateway, if improved, would hold it's own <br />and the !figures were arrived at by using the average growth rate <br />of other airports in the metro region. <br /> <br />Chairmanl Ippel stated that he realizes Mr. Babcock repreSents a <br />proper~y owner but he is asking the Commission to make a determina- <br />tion on is°mething that could be done without any knowledge of just <br />what the property owner is planning; would like to see from <br />Mr. BabCock's client exactly where the property is located and <br />what is ~be~ng planned for it. <br /> <br />Mr. BabcOck stated he would try and provide that information. <br />Mr. BabCock also stated that if the Commission is reasoning this <br />issue through on the basis of economic benefit to Ramsey, he <br />urges thje Commission to be cautious because he doesn't see any <br />benefit ~fr°m what has been suggested. <br /> <br />Will Barry~- 7220 153rd Lane NW - Stated that he participated <br />in the 5980 push against an airport. Mr. Barry stated that <br />the public statement at that time was against any airport in <br />Ramsey; not just on the General Mills property. Council's <br />authoriz:ation for this study was a mistake and the public will <br />inform ~hem of that very soon. <br /> <br />Jim Martin ~ Plymouth, MN. - Stated his family owns land within <br />~ mile~of The existing airport facility and that there are <br />acquisition costs associated with clear zones A and B and if <br />you are'ian~icipating acquiring property from us in the the C <br />zone by .zoning, we will test it in court and suggested that the <br />prime beneficiaries of this proposed plan may be private property <br />owners ~ho will use government money to bail them out of a losing <br />situation, <br /> <br />Virgil Ros~ ~. Inquired as to what will happen to his property <br />value if his residence survives the plan and is not acquired. <br />He has ~alked to some business people in the Industrial area and <br />some fe~.l property values will increase and some say airport <br />development will be detrimental to property values. <br /> <br />Chairma~ Ippel stated that the Commission is addressing the <br />issues one .step at a time and nobody on the Commission is ready <br />to make 'judgements and recommendations to Council. <br /> <br />Virgil Rose ~ Stated that where he lives is an established area <br />that wi%'l ibe greatly affected and he realizes that the dollars <br />and cents issue is important and that it will be very difficult <br />for the 'homeowners to consider the plan objectively. <br /> <br />Commiss%oner Donovan agreed that there is an emotion cost that <br />cannot be measured. <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel stated that social impact will be looked at; that <br />is the reason for public meetings. Chairman Ippel also stated <br />that th~ airport has been there for a long time and past useage <br />has bee~ what is projected for in the next 10 years.
