Ken Wa§~er .- Stated that the airport in Lakeville was taken over
by the Metropolitan Airport Commission -- can the same happen
in Ramsay?

Chairman IPpel replied that the airport in Lakeville was developed
private land sold to MAC.' MAC could only take an airport over if
the City were to offer it.

Mark Ryan ~ Metro Council - Stated that when an airport is offered
to MAC, ,they then determine whether or not they want it in their
system.

Douglas Lida - 16413 Jaspar - Stated that consideration should also
be given to the types of businesses that are drawn in because of
an airport. Stated he also visited Air Lake and was very impressed
with th~ c%eanliness and the well put together situation there.
Consider what types of businesses would be there if it were not
an airPort~; don't care for another neighborhood junk yard and there
is a potential for a gravel pit at the north end of that~particular
area. A development, such as the type in Air Lake Industrial Park,
would be an asset to the community. As far as social impact, the
types of businesses that could potentially be in that area do not
compare.to the types of businesses that would come in because of
the airport.

Commissioner Soderholm reiterated that nobody on the Commission is
ready to make a decision; that there are many questions yet to be
answered and that the Commission is not trying to do a sales job
on the public~

Mr. Babcock requested that the Commission consider the 'loss of
potential tax revenues because of the considerable amount of land
tied up in airport clear zones~

Ron EriCks0n ~ 8361 158th Lane - Stated that he cannot foresee
any tax, revenue lossl that the airport generates industrial growth
and tax base. The City would have a combination of tax base
increase and itinerant operation money being spent within the
community~

Tim Dusbabek - 7821 171st Avenue - Stated that discussions tonight
seem to ~be saying that we can't have an industrial park without
an airport and we can. Don't feel an airport is necessary to get
industrial growth,

Chairma~ IPpel stated that an airport is like another utility;
it is ~ne ~oze item that enters into a company"s ultimate decision
as to where to locate~

Tim Dusbabek - Figures quoted are projectiOns and not reality;
the City C~uld get itself in a bind.

Chairma~ Ippel replied that the major expenditure in developing
will be~.land acquisition and a major of that land is zOne
~dust~$al~ If the airport should fail, the City would have
~str~al~property, acquired for $.10 on the $1~00, to be
.ize~ f~r whatever purposes the City might see fit.
