Mr. <br />Lundeen s~ate~ that part of his property is in Zone B and part is in Zone <br />C and inquired as to how use of his property will be affected with airport <br />zoning. Mr. Lundeen stated he will not pay taxes and sewer and water <br />assessmem~ for that part of his property he cannot develop. <br /> <br />A1Shallb~tter - 17060 Bison - Stated that for 10 years he lived 1/2 block <br />from the ~rys~al Airport. He, his father and 3 brothers are all pilots; he <br />keeps hi~! plane at Crystal and he also operates a business aircraft. <br />Airports generate revenue through hangar rentals; Gateway could generate <br />$27,000/Y~ar for rental on 25 hangars. Tax revenue is also generated from <br />privatelY/owned hangars. Mr. Shallbetter stated that he opposes Metro <br />Council o~ Metropolitan Airport Commission intervention into this airport; <br />it should .be city-controlled. <br /> <br />Brad JensOn -~6711 137th Avenue NW - Stated that he feels the airport is a <br />safety haZard!and the City doesn't need it. Stated that he has a roll of <br />film his ~hi~dren found from the helicopter that recently crashed two <br />blocks f~om ~is home. Mr. Jenson stated that the citizens need more <br />answers ~egazding sewer and water improvements and the ability to <br />subdivide. <br /> <br />Sharon M~ger - 7260 152nd Lane NW - Stated that the Supreme Court decision <br />to which One ~f the attorney's speaking tonight referenced seems to say <br />that a city rmstricting land use and subdivision is unconstitutional and <br />the owne~!.of the land must be compensated. This airport zoning ordinance <br />would not~onl~ mean buying properties in Zone A but possible lawsuits from <br />those owners in Zone B that cannot subdivide. Ms. Mager stated that she <br />doesn't Want the landfill either but the letters from Waste Management of <br />Minnesota's a~torney and Metro Council bring up some important points. <br />This issue shmuld not progress further until all matters are researched by <br />the City Attorney and City Council. <br /> <br />Ed Hamilton -16615 Highway #10 - Stated that his property is right on the <br />edge of Zone C and he doesn't feel, for safety reasons, that the City needs <br />an airport. Other factors to be considered are the cost to bury power <br />lines, 20~000~28,000 cars usig Hwy. #I0 per day, the railroad tracks and <br />the river. The airport zoning ordinance should be disapproved. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartl~y stated that Council will review the responses to tonight's <br />comments 8n Ahgust 25.
