IN~rERIM STP PROJECT CRITERIA <br /> <br />Bikeway-Walk.,ay Projects - 1992 <br /> <br />DEFINF'I]0N -!Bikeway-Walkway <br />evaluation: <br /> <br />A coh~rI~uo <br />DESIGNATED <br /> <br />facility re&aris n, <br />shelters, and pm <br /> <br />projects must meet the following definition to qualify for further <br /> <br />US FACILITY DESIGNED PURSUANT TO AN OVERALL PLAN AND <br />FOR THE TRANSPORTATION USE OF BICYCLES, OTHER VEHICLES <br />Y HUMAN POWER, OR PEDESTRIANS. Specifically, a 'bicycle transportation <br />;,w or improved lanes, paths or shoulders for use by bic'yclists, traffic control device.s, <br />ring facilities for bicycles. <br /> <br />The projectlmUS!, be a permanent improvement. Temporary. constructioti is defined as work which <br />must be esscntia!iy replaced in the immediate future. Staged construction is considered permanent <br />rather than temporary so long as future stages build on rather than replace previous work. <br /> <br />The right-of-wayi acquisition costs, costs required to complete studies, engineering, design, etc., will <br />not be eligible. ',Noise barriers, drainage projects, fences, landscaping, etc., are ineligible for funding <br />unless incli~ded ~ part of a larger project which is otherwise eligible. <br /> <br />Designs for bike"W~ ays must be in accordance with AASHTO standards to the extent possible. <br /> <br />A total of $1,,500i000 federal STP funds will be allocated in this interim process. The total estimated <br />cost of a project imust exceed $25,000. One unit of government such as a county, could "package' <br />more than one Small project to meet the minimum level. This ma5' be especially applicable to <br />mnovauve p.rojeeta. The minimum local match must equal 20% of eligible project costs. It ma)' <br />include separate ~ut related elements and support facilities which are not at the same location. The <br />maximum fe~era~ funding for any one project will be $500,000. This ma5' be over-matched up to 50% <br />of total costa'esu~ting in a $1,000,000 project. <br /> <br />A contract ~ust be let prior to December 31, 1993. <br /> <br />Eligible project sPonsors include state and regional agencies, ciD' and count3' government units. The <br />project subniittei ks responsible for the local share of project cost. 'i'ne projec: submitter is also <br />responsibl* for ahy liability associated with the project and ongoing maintenance. <br /> <br />The TAB re'Sen, as the right to subdivide projects to allow or encourage more projects to be funded. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
