Co

must be laid sufficiently waving to allow not less than one (1) foot
of extra length in such manner as to prevent rupture by
settlement. The service pipe must be placed sufficiently below the
surface in all cases, so protected or arranged as to prevent
rupture from freezing. All services shall be inspected by the City
prior to being backfilled.

No person shall make any attachment to any pipe or water fixture
in premises from which water has been shut off, or make any
connection with any service pipe which is not in use between the
watermains and the meters, without the party desiring such work
to be done having first made application to and obtaining a written
permit from the City for the performance of such work, and no
person shall make any replacement tap or connect any tap or
connection theretofore made in any watermain without first
removing the old service and plugging the watermain. When a
new building is erected on the site of an old one, and it is desired to
increase or change the old water service, no connection with the
mains shall be permitted until all the old service has been
removed and the main plugged.

The service pipe must extend from the main to the inside of the
building, or, if not taken into a building, then to the hydrant or
other fixtures which it is intended to supply. A stop cock
accessible from the surface through a sleeve without digging in
all cases must be placed outside in a box at the property line. All
stop boxes and cocks must be approved by the City. All stop boxes
at the property line must be set in front of the building intended to
be supplied or as approved by the City. The stop cock, together
with box and cover, are the property of the City and all
unauthorized persons are forbidden to interfere with them.

The service pipe from the City watermain to the meter shall enter
the building so that the meter horn is in a horizontal position. In
no case should there be more than twelve (12) inches of pipe
exposed between the point of the entrance through the basement
floor and the stop.

The water pipe connecting with the municipal water main shall
have no joints therein when located under the basement or slab
floor.

If, for any cause, a person laying the service pipe should fail to
have the corporation cock inserted or the connection made to the
curb stop at the time specified in the application, a written notice
to that effect must be left with the City fixing another day on which
said connection will be made. A notice must be given at least two
days previous to the excavation for the laying of a service pipe and

Page 6

I
!
!
I
I
I
I
I
!
I
I

!
I
i
I

I
I
