Accessible pathways should be provided between shore fishing spots and the parking lot, drop off area, and a <br /> mass transit stop when one is located a reasonable distance from the fishing spot. <br />2. Trails should have a slope of 5% or less, or else a ramp with rest stops should be utilized. Where more than <br /> one rest area is required every other one should have a bench. <br />3. The width should be a minimum of 36 inches for one-way traffic and a minimum of 60 inches for two-way <br /> traffic; cross slope should be 2%, and overhead clearance a minimum of 7 feet. <br />4. The trail and fiat spot surfaces should be level; any projection should not exceed .25 inches unless beveled and <br /> then only to a maximum of.5 inches. Any gaps should not exceed .5 inches. <br />5. Tactile clues on the trail's surface and on hand rails should be provided for the visually impaired. <br /> <br />Parking: Designated handicapped parking spaces should be provided a reasonable distance from the fishing <br /> site. Curb-cuts should be provided with a completely smooth transition between surfaces. <br />Signs: A sign shuuid be placed at the facility, entr.~nce to describe the accessibi!Lty of the site: distance, slope, <br /> type of surfaces, and amenities. Handicapped parking spaces should have signs. <br />Safely: The site should be designed with safety in mind including: the openness of the site, the ability for <br />people to see the site, and a proximity to help if it is needed. Lights can be provided for night fishing. <br />Amenities: Restroorns, drinking fountain, telephone, lighting, shade/weather protection, picnic facilities, and <br /> other recreation oppormnitie, s enhance a fishing site.
