if other people can build accessory structures he does not know why he cannot, but he will go by
the Commission's decision.

Chairperson Nixt stated to bring this in compliance the trailers would have' to'-be stored on the
side yard. He asked what defines the side yard. ~

Associate Planner Wald demonstrated on the site map. She indicated tti-e' mpo~aphy of:~he land
drops off toward the lake, and it would be very difficult to remove the trees and- construct a
building in the back because of the topo~aphy. ':

Chairperson Nixt indicated he is trying to eliminate the necessity for building a garage.

Mr. Rockow stated if he has to park the trailers back. that far he would rather build the garage, as
it would be safer and easier to get in and out.

Board Member Watson asked how often they take the trailers in.and out.

Mr. Rockow indicated it varies on the job, but at least once a week: ~

Chairperson Nixt asked if they cOUld gant an Interim Use Permit. '-'~

Associate Planner Wald stated that'was a viable option, but noted an Interim Use Permit has a
maximum of five years ......

Chairperson Nixt indicated they could ~ant an Interim use Permit with conditions to screen and
comply with code. He noted there would: be a fee but it would be cheaper than building a garage.

Mr. Rockow asked what the setback requirements would be.

Chairperson Nixt indicated he could leave the trailers pretty much where they are at, and they
would rely on Staff to negotiate conditions that address the concerns of Mr. Rockow and the
neighbors. He stated, the trailers woul:d have to be in working order and kept neat.

In response to a question from Mr. Rockow, Associate Planner Wald stated Staff would probably
not. charge a fee, as Mr. Rockow has already paid the fee for a variance and Conditional Use
Permit, but they may need a performance bond.

Chairperson' Nixt indicated he would not be in favor of ~anting a variance, but he would propose
an Interim Use Permit so Mr. Rockow can continue sronng his trailers, with terms worked out
with Staff.

Mr. Rockow asked if he was being asked to commit to one or another tonight.

Chairperson Nixt stated' he was being asked to allow the issue to be tabled so he can discuss the
option with Staff: He indicated they would continue it to the March meeting.

Mr. Rockow asked if he could ask his neighbors what they want.

Chaiq>erson Nixt stated that they made their choices fairly clear. He indicated if it has been this
way fi)r 20 years, the least obtrusive is no chamje.

21
