Chairperson Nixt stated that seemed reasonable; however he is not a builder and cannot evaluate
the logistics of major changes.

Associate Planner Geisler stated she talked to Eden Prairie, who said they get very little
opposition on seven units per acre or more, and they have a 75% masonry requirement.

Commissioner Brauer suggested a minor wording change. Under Minor Changes it says siding
color, and he would suggest it be changed to texture.

Chairperson Nixt directed Staff to incorporate these discussion items and bring it back for the
next meeting.

Case #10 Appointment to Environmental Policy Task Force

Chairperson Nixt stated they each have a finite amount of time to devote to their duties. He
asked what they are trying to accomplish by having a Planning Commission member on this Task
Force.

Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon stated originally it was to have someone
from each Commission that deals with these issues on the Task Force, but they do meet twice a
month.

Chairperson Nixt asked if it was a requirement to have a Planning Commission representative.

Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon indicated he did not believe so. He stated
it was set-up that way, but is not codified in writing.

Chairperson Nixt suggest they table this item and request Staff to notify the Planning
Commission when there is an item on the Environmental Policy Task Force agenda that would
require the Plmming Commission's expertise. He stated the Tree Preservation Task Force is an
excellent example of this working. He indicated they brought the ordinance to the Planning
Commission and the Planning Commission pared it down. He stated he does not have time to
attend two more meetings a month, and unless someone volunteers, he cannot make them.

Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon stated another suggestion was to remove
the Planning Commission member and appoint another person.

Commissioner Watson asked if having a Planning Commission spot holding up another member
of the community participating.

Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon stated that there are other interested
applicants.

Planning Commission/February 5, 2004
