In
the interim, the City Council instructed the Ramsey Board of Adjustment to conduct a
special meeting and consider granting a variance to the garage side yard setbacks in Amber
Ridge so as not to delay development of that subdivision.

That City Code allows for a minimum of 1,080 square feet of garage space on urban lots;
that the average triple garage is 750 square feet; reducing the garage side yard setback to six
feet will offer property owners the opportunity to more closely achieve the amount of
allowable garage space allowed by City Code.

That City Staff has stated that traditionally, outside storage is one of the most common
zoning complaints and the City should offer reasonable opportunity for property owners to
provide for indoor storage space.

That the variance requested is the minimum variance which would alleviate the hardship.

That if granted, the variance wilI not grant the Applicant any special privilege that is denied
to other owners of lands, structures or buildings in the same district as an amendment to
Ramsey City Code requirements for side yard setbacks in the urban district is pending.

That if granted, the variance will not be mater/ally detrimental to the purposes of the
Ramsey Zoning Chapter or other property in the R- 1 Urban Resident/al District.

That if granted, the variance will not endanger the public safety or substantially impair
property values within the neighborhood.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof:

and the following voted against the same:
and the following abstained:
and the following were absent:

whereupon said resolution was declared duly adopted by the Ramsey Board of Adjustment this the
7th day of June, 1993.

Chairman
ATTEST:

City Administrator
