CAS # /0

CDBG PROJECT . PAVING CENTRAL PARK PATHS
By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

Background:

In October of 1992, the City Council allocated $9,090.00 in unexpended CDBG funds to pave the
paths between the various activity areas at Central Park. The purpose for paving the paths was to
ensure more public participation by those most easily discouraged by unsure surfaces (elderly and
persons with any degree of disability).

Observations:

City Staff solicited bids for the paving and the City received one bid in the amount of $28,066.00
from Omann Brothers. The bid is enclosed for your review.

Thc City has recently received notification that we will be looking to allocate another $30,000.00 in
CDBG funds in February of 1994.

Knowing that the paving of the paths at Central Park will cost approximately $28,000:00 and
knowing that we do have funds available in 1994, Council should make a decision regarding
whether or not to continue to pursue the Central Park paving project.

Recommendation:

City Staff recommends pursuing the project.

Council Action:

Motion to:
Direct City Staff to continue to pursue the paving of Central Park paths with CDBG funds.

Review Checklist:

CC:

City Administrator
Parks/Utilities Coordinator

11/9/93
