-4- <br />Regular <br />~Co~cil 9/13/76 <br /> <br />Mr. Wax, Blaine Midway Ail Pets, stated he is presently handling <br />dog catching for the City on an on-call basis. <br /> <br />Councilman Mickelson asked how many calls he is getting under <br />the present system. <br /> <br />Mr. Wax replied four calls one day and 3, 4, 5 days without any <br />calls. It varies. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Oliphant asked what he charges. <br /> <br />Mr. Wax replied $12.50 per hour from the time he leaves until he <br />gets back. $2.00 per day boarding for any and all animals. <br />No disposal charges. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Oliphant asked if he answered call right away. <br /> <br />Mr. Wax replied yes. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Oliphant asked what Ramsey's bill is as of today. <br /> <br />Mr. Wax answered for two months, about $500.00. <br />run is one hour per trip. <br /> <br />The average <br /> <br />Mayor Cox asked how the December figures compared to July. <br /> <br />Mr. Wax. December was higher due to heat in July. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Oliphant asked about his location. <br /> <br />Mr. Wax said he is situated in an industrial area. <br /> <br />Councilman Gorham commented that there is benefit to having a <br />dog catcher located in the community. But, he strongly feels <br />that the dog catcher should be situated in a zone other than <br />residential. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Oliphant agreed with Councilman Gorham. That there is <br />an advantage to having the dog catcher in the local community and <br />informed Mr. Carda that she feels he would do a conscientious <br />job but is concerned about his location. <br /> <br />Councilman Mickelson does not feel that type of kennel should be <br />located in a residential area. <br /> <br />Mr. Carda asked if he could be the animal warden, pick up dogs and <br />take them to Anoka's kennel. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox said there could be no decision by Council because Mr. <br />Wax did not have any definite figures on cost with him and Mr. Carda <br />would have to investigate the possibility of boarding dogs at Anoka. <br />This is to be on the Agenda for September 27, 1976. <br /> <br />Motion by Oliphant, seconded by Reimann to table the matter of dog <br />catcher until the next regular meeting and Don Carda and Greg Wax <br />to present a more detailed proposal to the City. <br /> Carried 5 Ayes <br /> <br /> <br />
