Page 3
Council 11/22/76

least another month. He has until the first of May to complete assessing. He
would like to finish by the first of April. As long as Mr. Triggs is able to
help there should be no problem. Mayor Cox directed Mr. Wirz and Mr. Nereson
to work closely on the assessing and if there is a problem to let Council know.
Councilman Mickelson indicated he has talked to contractors in the area and
has been informed that next year is going to be a big year for building.

Mr. Wirz indicated that another man may be needed in the future to help him

with inspections.

Mayor Cox said the City does not want to run into problems where the inspector

does not have enough time to do his job effectively, ordinance enforcement, etc.

Communit~ School Report, given by Joan Thunnel, Ramsey Community School Citizen
Advisory Council, a newly organized committee for school-community relations.

Public Safety Report, read by Mr. Nereson.
Councilman Reimann expressed concern regarding the Matador squad car. He said

the City is paying the bill to get the car repaired and officers report that

it still is giving them problems, stopping etc. and this could be serious in
emergency situations. Mr. Auspos should talk to Greenberg regarding the car.

Street D~partment Report, read by Mr. Nereson.
A formal letter is to be sent to Lyman Lumber giving until the lOth of December

as deadline for completion of the maintenance storage building.

NEW BUSINESS

a. Precinct designation. Report on two alternate plans given by Mr. Nereson.
Mrs. James and Mrs. Barstow to be contacted for their input. Mr. Nereson to
research and report on again at the next regular Council meeting.
b. MSA Street Project. Mayor Cox emphatically expressed concern that citizens,
particularly the Homeowners Assoc. be advised of the proposed project so if
they have some input they will feel free to do so.

Councilmembers said every effort is being made to inform the public through
newspaper publications and public meetings.

Councilman Mickelson said how do you educate people? They are not interested
until it affects them directly, then they come and complain, it is only those
who disagree that you hear from. The facts are and have been reported just the
way they are.

Councilman Reimann said the City needs a feasibility study and after that, public
hearings will be held.

Mayor Cox asked Mr. Cushman for his comments.

Mr. Cushman replied that if this is the No. I priority and a lot of money is involved,
Council should advise the people why it is being done the way it is.
