12/27/76 Council
Page 3

Councilman Gorham asked, what would the City want the land for? As far
as expansion, we have room for that now unless we need more park land.
He said the first basic need is to get construction underway. Then a
decision can be made whether or not more land is necessary.

Mayor Cox also feels that after the project is laid out that it will be
easier to determine where and if more land should be purchased. This
item is to be on the Agenda in April or May.

Mr. Nereson reported he has been trying to contact the EDA office to
determine what the necessary steps are for getting the project started.

Mayor Cox presented the following:

a. letter from John Boland regarding the EDA grant application. He said
the letter doesn't in anyway indicate that this is an unfavorable project.

REPORTS:

Building Inspector/Assessor
The report was read by Mr. Nereson.

Mr. Nereson was instructed to inform Mr. Wirz that he is to take the time needed
to get his building inspector's certification.

Motion by Gorham, seconded by Mickelson to extend the probation period of Lester
Wirz, Building Inspector/Assessor for an additional 90 days beginning December 26,
1976.
MOTION CARRIED 4 Ayes

Street Report
The report was read by Mr. Nereson.

Mayor Cox asked about the status of the situation where the school bus is stopping
on Highway 10. Mr. Nereson said he has contacted Mr. McClasky and he agreed that
there is a problem and he was going to contact Mr. Nereson regarding the cul de sac,
but he has not responded to date.

Councilman Gorham asked that he be contacted immediately in this regard and that
Merle should be sure it is plowed wide enough.

Mayor Cox said if this is not resolved by the next meeting, this item is to be
on Council Agenda for January 10, 1977.

Mayor Cox directed a letter be sent to Mr. McClosky with a carbon copy to the superinten-
dent of the school district so something can be worked out so buses will cease stopping
on Highway 10.

Police Report
Read by Mr. Nereson.
Motion by Reimann, seconded by Mickelson to move Dave Gustafson and Tom Anderson from
part time to full time employment status starting 1/1/77, as per the personnel committee
recommendation.
MOTION CARRIED 4 Ayes

Park Department Report
Kathy Schneider gave a report on the meeting in November and noted that the preliminary
park plan is almost complete.
