City of Ramsey - Minutes Council Meeting - August 11, 1975 Page Four Recess - 9'16 - 9:23 Community School Program: Mr. Stewart presented a report on the summer community school program and there was a lengthy discussion of the participation in the summer program and potential for budget changes for a program for 1976. Mr. Cox indicated that the community school directors who had been assigned, Mr. Steve Althouse and Ms. Gruber had done a ver~ ~:. fine job and that he had heard a number of good comments on their work. The Clerk was directed to send them a letter of appreciation.~ The discussion covered additional costs which could be anticipated ~,~ for 1976 based on experience in 1975 and mechanisms which might be ~, used to improve the participation through additional publicity and ~f additional transportation. It was agreed that Mr. Stewart would ~ ~ bill the City for the summer program on two separate billings and that the Council would review the proposed 1976 budget and program ~k~ with a decision to be made at a later date as to participation. It was further agreed that the Council would discuss the question of year 'round community schools at a meeting on August 20th. Mr. Stewart agreed to meet with the Council again to discuss the community school program on August 25 at 7 p.m. Anoka City Landfill' Mayor Cox indicated that the operator of the Anoka City Landfill would like to discuss continued operation of the landfill with the City of Ramsey. A meeting was set for this purpose on August 20th to commence at 8:30 p.m. Administrative Assistant Recruitment Discussion- Following a discussion of various candidates who had' been interviewed, Mr. Reimann moved that Mr. Don Walker be contacted and offered employ- ment for the position of Administrative Assistant/Clerk/Treasurer at a salary of $16,000 to start; $16,500 after six months evaluation, and $17,000 one year after employment. Mr. Mickelson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Audit Cost Increase Request' Upon recommendation by Mr. Steffen, Mr. Gorham moved that the allowance for the audit be increased by $1,200 to a maximum of $3,200 pursuant to a request by the audit firm to allow additional work necessary for a complete and firm audit as a basis for the city bookkeeping system. Mr. Mickelson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
