had been submitted. The exhibit time ran from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Assignments should be
made for staffing the table. He reviewed the items that staff would prepare for the Expo.

Civil Engineer II Linton stated a related matter was the tree books. Last. year $1,300 from the
Lawful Gambling Fund was spent for 500 tree books, which equaled $2.60 per copy, and the
supply was almost depleted. Staff's positive comments regarding the books were reviewed and
the Commission was asked if they would like to approve ordering a new supply of tree books.

Civil Engineer II Linton noted a poll was taken at City Hall and staff was unanimous in its
recommendation to order a new supply of tree books. It was provided to new residents and Chris
Anderson, the tree inspector used them when he visited homeowners. The recommendation ~vas
to reorder, as no one had anything negative to say about the tree books.

Chairperson Johns asked if they could be available in time for the Expo.

Civil Engineer II Linton responded he would investigate how soon they could be obtained.

Chairperson Johns asked if it needed to come out of the Lawful Gambling Fund every year.

Commissioner Olds asked if it should be a budget item.

Principal City Engineer Olson responded it would need to come from the general fund if included
in the budget.

Parks and Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated staff could look for an appropriate place within
the budget; however, it would be helpful if the Commission made a recommendation that the
money come from the Lawful Gambling Fund'if another source could not be found. Staff could
look for a source of funds for future transactions.

Chairperson Johns indicated the Commission needed to discuss the staffing of booths. Larger
blocks than one hour should be taken and she stated she could be there the entire day.

Commissioner Olds noted there also would be people available from the Environmental Policy
Task Force.

Chairperson Johns asked if there would be co-booths.

Commissioner Olds responded he believed there would be co-booths.

Discussion followed regarding who would be in the booth and what times they would be
available. Chairperson Johns indicated she could be available the entire time. It was decided
Commissioner Olds and Commissioner Lehman would be available from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
and Commissioner Pontius would be available from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Chairperson Johns
indicated she would check if Commissioner Ostrum was available on that date.

Park and Recreation Commission/April 8, 2004
Page 18 of 21
